Medical Astrology: GEMSTONES and HEALING: PINK TOURMALINE by Eileen Nauman, DHM, medical astrologer
Here is a truly beautiful pink tourmaline specimen straight out of the mine. It is breathtaking and many people love PINK tourmaline!
CATALOGING THE GEMS
I evaluate a gemstone in a number of ways. First, it falls into one of these categories: Heart Stone, Grounding Stone, Guard Dog Stone, High Energy Stone, Trauma Stone, Mental Stone, Stress Tone, Luck Stone, Psychic Stone, Money Stone, Arthritis Stone and Master Healer Stone. I created this system over the years because each stone has unique skills. Some, like the Master Stones, are diverse, multi-skilled and affect more than one chakra in our aura. Now, let’s explore Pink Tourmaline. It is a Guard Dog and Heart stone.
GUARD DOG STONE
A Guard Dog Stone is one that can protect you either physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. They ‘guard’ you energetically. It might be from physical danger, such as when a person is a firefighter, in the military during a war, or as a police person. Or if you have a dangerous kind of job such as construction. There are subtler dangers too. Where there is danger to your emotions concerning your love, you should be wearing Pink Tourmaline. A man who manipulates a woman by using her love against her is an example. Or a woman who feels weak and thinks she needs a man around for strength, the man may well find his heart energy being sucked out of him.
Danger is perceived differently by us as individuals. There could be someone next door that you don’t trust. Or you have someone at work who stresses you out (usually the boss or a coworker). Or there’s an office gossip that is trying to make you look bad to your boss. There’s a hundred different ways that we all wish we had a guard who could protect us in times when we feel vulnerable and unable to completely defend ourselves. And this is where a Guard Dog stone can be worn in necklace form to help support you.
Some stones can do one or two levels of protection, but rarely are able to handle situations on all four levels that may arise. The physical, emotional, mental and spiritual are the four levels. For example, obsidian material (obsidian, mahogany obsidian, snowflake obsidian and apache tears) REFLECT back energy that is coming your way. Obsidian is glass and all glass reflects. Agate, Jasper, Jade, Turquoise, Malachite will ABSORB the hit coming your way, which is why it will change color (grows pale) over time if you are being attacked on any level. Topaz guards on the mental level only. Amber and Amethyst guards only on the physical level. There’s only one that can deal with any type of heavy energy on all four levels and that is Black Tourmaline. Pink Tourmaline is a guard dog for your crown (white color), Root (red color) and Heart (red + white = pink) chakra and love energy/emotions only.
Pink Tourmaline is secondary to Black Tourmaline when it comes to being a guard dog stone. Pink has rulership over the crown, root and heart chakras (more detailed elaboration on this later). So this has to do with loved ones and friends. Where the Pink differentiates from the powerful black variety is that the Pink stop psychic vampire who are loved ones and they unconsciously ‘suck’ energy out of your crown, root or heart chakra. It stops people who want your heart chakra dead in their tracks and they won’t take a drop of energy from you. When there is danger or perceived danger, Pink Tourmaline will absorb it and transmute it, leaving you untouched. It is a feminine and masculine energy and what is termed “androgynous” because it will rebalance on either side of the body as well as any field in your aura, as well as protect your chakras.
If you have to work with people who are energy stealers (or attackers) who profess to be your ‘friend’, then wearing a Pink Tourmaline necklace will completely protect you from them if they are abusing your love or liking them. Those who artfully manipulate another’s emotions are called “passive-aggressive behavior.” And Pink Tourmaline can stop this energy from reaching you and also help you not hook into the drama or game being played by friend or spouse or child. And lest you don’t know what an energy vampire is, let me share it with you. This is a person who unconsciously gravitates to people who she (and sometimes he, but more often a woman) feels is stronger than her or himself. This individual unconsciously revolves around you because you can protect them in some way. When she/he gets around you, within minutes you may begin to feel tired. You may not be able to focus or think clearly. You may become forgetful. After she/he leaves your auric space you will certainly feel like a washed out dishrag. And you may crawl through the day feeling absolutely exhausted. It takes a good night’s sleep to get you back in order. THAT is a sign of an energy vampire. And Pink Tourmaline will stop crown, root and heart drainage of etheric energy from happening to you.
This these gems that can help support you with problems of a a heart and emotional nature. These gems are utilized in situations such as: Grief, breaking up a relationship, a divorce, loss of a loved one, loss of a pet, moving and leaving your friends or family, getting fired from a job, losing your house to a flood/earthquake, are but a few examples. People who, on a more spiritual level who are wanting to work in their heart chakra should consider a “heart stone” helper. These gemstones can open up an emotionally closed down person (repression/suppression). A heart stone can help them be more sensitive to themselves and to others. It moves narcissistic people toward concern and compassion for others, rather than just focused on their own needs. These heart gemstones help us “emote.” For those who have suppressed or repressed wounds that surround love, being loved, or not loved, also fall under this category. Anything to do with our heart; whether it is learning to love ourselves, love others, loving our enemies, learning the difference between pity, sympathy and compassion, these stone helpers can support you. Pink Tourmaline helps more than just the heart, however. But more on that later.
THE HISTORY OF PINK TOURMALINE
There are many types of Tourmaline that are all thrown together under this one, recognized label. They are all different. I’m not going to get into a discussion on any other than the pink variety, however. Pink Tourmaline is known as rubellite. It is always pink, striated and column-like. It has the amazing properties of being piezoelectric (like the quartz family). It means if this stone is heated up (think energy-wise here: it will “heat up” and react to an incoming energy) a positive charge develops at one end. There is a negative and positive to all tourmaline. These charges REVERSE themselves when the gemstone cools (or, in energy-speak, when the incoming energy is TRANSMUTED by the piezoelectric energy of the Pink Tourmaline and sent BACK TO THE SENDER).
The crystal structure of all Tourmalines, regardless of color, are highly unique. It is the only crystal formed that is perfectly triangular or three-sided. It belongs to the trigonal system and is found in long, sender to thick prismatic and column-like crystals. The way they terminate or end is known as hemimorphism. And all hemimorphic crystals are piezoelectric, and are often pyroelectric as well. It is 7 to 7.5 on Mohs scale of hardness. Chemically, Tourmaline is a crystal silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminum, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. It is Na(Li1.5,Al1.5)Al6Si6O18(BO3)3(OH)4 and is classified as an Elbaite Tourmaline. Pink Tourmaline contains lithium, well known to calm a person’s anxiety or anxious state.
There is a huge difference between Pink Tourmaline and other Guard Dog stones. It receives the negative or heavy energy, reverses it/transmutes it through it’s piezo and piroelectric abilities, and then sends it BACK to the sender! Talk about instant, rubber band karma! And this is WHY you want to use Pink Tourmaline in serious or ongoing situations of stress or danger in your life. Sooner or later, the SENDEE is going to get so much of what he or she is sending out to you–that they QUIT doing it. And they leave you alone (or change jobs, or move or get out of your space, permanently). To my knowledge, there is no other gemstone I’ve ever know that has this ability. That’s why Pink Tourmaline is top dawg of the Guard Dog stones.
The Chemistry for rubellite (Pink Tourmaline) is NaFe3(Al,Fe)6Si6O18(BO3)3(OH)4, Sodium Iron Aluminum Boro-silicate Hydroxide and it is in the Silicates class. It is a trigonal (3 sided) crystal system. It has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale (Diamond being a 10 and the hardest of all gemstones). It can be found in Brazil, Colorado, the Appalachian Mountains, Germany, Cornwall, England, Sri Lanka and many other places in the world. Most Pink Tourmaline sold in the USA comes from South America and specifically, from Brazil.
Tourmaline, in general (there are many varieties) were known in the Mediterranean area for thousands of years. In 1703 it was imported by the Dutch from Sri Lanka to Europe. The Dutch used the Sinhalese name, ‘Turmali’ which means “stone with mixed colors.” The Dutch believed if you wrapped a piece of tourmaline in a fabric and placed it against the cheek of a fevered child, it would induce sleep. And so, the word “Tourmaline,” was birthed. The Chinese used pink tourmaline even earlier and carved beautiful snuff bottles from it. In Africa, the gemstone was thought to awaken a person from a dream illusion. India valued it as a gem to bring insight and discover the good in a person. To this day, people of Africa, Native American and Aboriginal people utilize this gem as protection against any and all dangers.
Tourmalines all have striations or vertical ridges that run the length of the crystal. All tourmalines form in either igneous (fire) or metamorphic (pressure) rocks. It is usually found in granite pegmatite’s with Lepidolite, a matrix material, microcline or spodumene. These rocks are created out of fire or pressure. And Tourmaline can handle both with ease.
Tourmaline is also ‘bicolored’ which means it has two colors in the crystal. Many are familiar with “watermelon” tourmaline which has red and green. But there is blue and black, pink and blue, pink and black, and others. A blog will be devoted to these bicolored tourmaline in the future.
THE ASTROLOGY OF PINK TOURMALINE
Pluto is the primary ruler of this stone with Uranus as a secondary ruler. Because it is piezoelectric and piroelectric, Uranus comes into play. Uranus rules electricity and electromagnetic activity on all four levels of our existence. And due to the massive ability of Pink Tourmaline to transform and TRANSMUTE energy like a huge power station, this falls under Pluto’s domain. Few stones actually transmute energy and when they do, Pluto comes into play–big time.
People who need this Guard Dog gemstone are “Neptunian” types. That means if there is three or more hard aspects to a person’s Neptune there may be boundary problems. The person can’t say “no” or they allow others to abuse the privilege of them. Frequently, they end up being the victim because they have no firm, solid boundaries between themselves and others, in order.
And also, the reverse is true here. If a person is Neptunian as described above, they turn out to be the biggest “psychic vampires” we have. Either way, Pink Tourmaline can be of help to the SUCKER and the SUCKEE. In the case of the person who is doing the stealing of other people’s energy if they wear Pink Tourmaline, that activity is stopped by the stone. It won’t even get out of the psychic vampire’s aura. Instead, it is transmuted right then and there and rendered harmless to all, including the psychic vampire. For those who are at the other end of the scale and unconsciously seen as a gasoline station of energy for the psychic vampire, wearing the Pink Tourmaline necklace stops it from occurring.
Sun sign of Pisces/Virgo can really use this gemstone (as well as already discussed Neptune prominent people). And, they can be either the victim of a psychic vampire, or be a psychic vampire, themselves. Both sun signs get caught up in the “caretaker syndrome” and they think they have to bleed themselves dry (on every level) in order to “save” others. This unconscious crucifixion complex will do nothing but make them susceptible to being drained by the very people they are care giving too. Those caught up in this lesson are learning healthy boundaries of giving and taking, rather than sacrificing themselves, body and soul, to the person who needs help. And of course, the end of this story is they end up with a chronic disease and usually die before the person they are care giving too… What’s wrong with THIS picture???!!!! Please check out this TED presentation because it speaks to the HEART of what Pink Tourmaline can do for the wearer: http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability.html. There are lots of fine and subtle lines to learn here and these people are the most vulnerable to having their energy stolen by the sick person; hence, you wear a Pink Tourmaline necklace when you are around them. It will create a permanent energy boundary that the care giver has yet to erect for themselves.
Anyone, regardless of their sun sign, who is of a “victim” mentality or a “caregiving” mentality really need to be wearing a Pink Tourmaline necklace quite often. This gem gives boundaries to the individual and helps them say “no” and really mean it. Or to finally recognize they are really strong and capable too and stop looking at the rest of us as gas energy stationed to be stolen from.
ASTROLOGY TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS WITH PINK TOURMALINE
If there is a transit or progression of Saturn where the person is getting worn down by continual and heavy loads they must carry, (care giving being one of many) Pink Tourmaline can help ease the pressure and stress, but also give the person more strength to plod along with their load. Most important, it can help create emotional detachment from the experience and give the care giver relief.
Any time there is a transit or progression of Pluto in the person’s natal chart, they may be involved in a “bullying” issue. Or, their self esteem is getting cut to ribbons by a clique or a group of children/teens or adults. Or, the person is facing a test of their faith, their world is tilting and changing, can use this stone. There is a group of people who have the need to experience sorcery and usually, they are the ones who are ‘hooked’ energetically by such a person. Psychic attack by a loved one, occurs under this framework. Pink Tourmaline can stop the attack cold and dissolve an energy hook into the heart chakra within minutes of the necklace being worn. As well as send it back to the loved one who has a twisted view of what loving you is all about.
When transiting or progressed Saturn or Pluto create stress for your heart life (whether at work or home) where you don’t get along with coworkers, is a service oriented job, your child or children or spouse are working out their issues, Pink Tourmaline gets the energy rebalanced so there is a fair give-and-take. And it will, over time, get the person or people out of your space–permanently. The old saying of “what goes around, comes around,” applies to Pink Tourmaline. If you and your loved one are looking a divorce or splitting up, this gem may give you some necessary insight as to what is really going on. Having to do anything stressful like a lawsuit, going to court for child custody, a divorce, house foreclosure are Pluto-like changes where this gem can help.
This is a hot pink/fuschia pink colored Tourmaline that has been faceted. It’s stunning and doesn’t normally come in this rare coloration.
THE NORTHEAST ENERGY
In the medicine wheel, Pink Tourmaline is North (earth) East (Earth and Air) energy. This is a minor direction, but they are more powerful than a single direction simply because it is two energies combined. Twice the power. This is the direction of the magician and this is truly where ‘magic’ can occur. Pink Tourmaline is one of the few stones to be from this particular direction. It is magic in action on a third-dimensional playing field but also has the ability to transform and transmute any energy that comes near it in any dimension. If that’s not magic, I don’t know what is! This is also the direction of the serpent and of course, snakes in general trigger a lot of people’s deepest fears. Pink Tourmaline can deal with such heart wounds and ease them considerably or completely.
WHO SHOULD WEAR PINK TOURMALINE?
Anyone can wear this gemstone. If you are going into a stressful or confrontational situation with a loved one (child, spouse, relative or friend), wear it. If you have a nasty home environment, always wear it. If you need to travel and that is stressful on you, take your Pink Tourmaline necklace with you. Obviously, if you have to survive in an abusive home environment, get out of it. This is an area where a gemstone isn’t going to help as much as walking away from it will.
Stress is defined by the individual. What may scare me won’t scare you–and vice versa. If you are stressed when it centers around a loved one, wear this necklace.
Here’s an opaque pink tourmaline crystal. It is known as ‘elbait’ and comes from San Diego County, California.
WHO SHOULD NOT WEAR PINK TOURMALINE?
Everyone can benefit from Pink Tourmaline. I never allow children under twelve to get around my necklaces simply because they can break and then swallow a bead–or worse, potentially choke on it. This is a ground rule I have across the board for all gemstones.
TYPES OF TOURMALINE
Rubellite is the only type of Pink Tourmaline. And it comes from a very pale shade to a fuschia color. All the other colors of Tourmaline belong to different groups geologically speaking. But ALL Tourmalines are piezoelectric and piroelectric. Of all the Tourmalines, Black Schrol or Black Tourmaline is top dog when it comes to protecting a person’s energy resources from other people and ALL situations. The other Tourmalines have different venues and use, and they will be covered in coming blogs.
This Pink Tourmaline crystal has a reddish-pink color to it.
This gemstone works with the crown, heart and root chakras, but has the most influence over the HEART chakra. This is how Pink Tourmaline works. First of all, the Root chakra runs red colored energy. The Root is our family of origin. When we are wounded by the parents/siblings or events, then this is our arena that we’ll be working in this lifetime. Add to this the Crown chakra, which is our mind as well as our connection with the cosmos. Frequently, what happens is the child is “brainwashed” (Crown chakra) by the parents (Root chakra). The child may be abused and therefore take on a low self esteem. This all mirrors in the Heart chakra because, due to these other factors and the chakras involved, have the child consciously or unconsciously thinking that she or he is unworthy of being loved. The child takes on the low self esteem, thinking and emotionally knowing they are never good enough. They aren’t good enough to succeed, nor are they good enough to be loved by the parents. Another scenario is a child who is beaten by the parent(s) turns around and carries on the abuse to their children and spouse. The thinking is WARPED and DISTORTED thanks to wounding as a baby/child in their home environment. There’s a thousand ways this can play out. And this is where Pink Tourmaline can come in and reach the Heart chakra. It will also send energy to the Root and Crown chakras as well. When this gem is worn with the intent of healing family wounds, there is nothing better than it to take on this monumental task.
The Root chakra is the bases for the pink color and the involvement of the heart and crown energy. Here is a deeper look at this chakra and how Pink Tourmaline can be a positive support to it:
Basic frequency: 7.8 Hz
Gaia (Mother Earth)
“All for one and one for all”–The Divine creates and protects all human tribes’ spiritual needs. To accept fully family of origin.
Accept personal responsibility for living honorably.
Loss of physical order (of the “tribe”)
Tribal/family bonding and honor
Support and loyalty
1. Inhibition of the individual experiencing his/her unique individuality is not tolerated.
2. “An eye for an eye” belief system.
Organs: physical body support; base of spine; legs, bones, coccyx (tailbone) , feet, rectum, and the immune system.
WAUTER’S ARCHETYPE ASSIGNMENT:
1. Healthy Root Chakra: Mother archetype
2. Dysfunctional Root Chakra: Victim archetype.
A healthy root chakra means financial security, adequate food, a home, shelter, the essentials we need to survive and feel as if we are surviving. There is a positive sense we can survive just about anything. No matter what life throws at us, we can handle it. (It doesn’t mean we like it, but we gird our loins, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, buckle down and “just do it” or whatever is necessary, in order to survive). This chakra, when operating positively, literally pulls energy from the earth and moves it up and through our body toward our Crown chakra (7th chakra) at the top of our head. The person is literally “in their body.” They are in touch with their mind AND their emotions simultaneously.
A dysfunctional or blocked chakra means we lose our connection to Mother earth. We are disconnected (literally and figuratively speaking) from earth energy. This is where you see the “space cadet” phenomena, and people who cannot “stay” in their body. They can’t seem to lock in or lock down. Our basic human survival, our sense that we can’t survive or just minimally survive, kicks in, instead. Another example of not being grounded “living in our head.” We’ve all seen people like this. The adage I use is that they are “cut off from the neck down”–meaning, they are afraid to inhabit their bodies, get in touch with their emotions, passions, pain and vulnerability. (I see a lot of men doing this). They have super intellects, they are logical/rational and they see everything through the mental construct of the “lower mind”–our every day functioning left hemisphere of our brain.
The Root as far as she is concerned, is about the “Tribal Mind” (TM) or mindset. This is Carolyn Myss’ word and concept for the Root Chakra. Examples of “tribe” would be our society we live in and most important, our family of origin, with its’ rules, laws, do’s and don’t's that are acceptable or unacceptable. In the Age of Aries, survival depended upon people banding together and working toward common goals/needs/support in order to live and not die. Other examples of TM (I’m going to switch to the initials to make it easier on me and the typing of it) would be the religion you belong to–her example is: she’s Catholic so she has this as a TM for her.
Everyone belongs to one or more “tribes.” For instance, Athena is a “tribe”. It is a group of like-minded people who AGREE to move the direction that the tribal leader (me) wants to move in. Myss says there’s nothing wrong with tribe except it stops the person from growing and developing. There’s positive and negative tribal mind situations. The ones she’s concerned with are the negatives that inhibit our grown as an INDIVIDUAL.
TM in the negative has only one leader and you follow. If you don’t follow the ‘laws’ of that particular TM, then you are thrown out, you become a pariah and you are not allowed to remain within it. These are very scary propositions to some people who feel if they are thrown out of a TM that they are ‘lost’ or can’t survive. This isn’t true nowadays, but the mindset and fear is still there. It is in these situations of a negative TM that a person is stopped from growing. They cannot and are not allowed to make their own unique/individual choices for themselves. If they open their mouth and voice any opinion different from what the TM wants, then an uncomfortable focus is brought to bear on that person to be quiet and go along with the “line” that is espoused by that TM. We see this all the time in many ways in our world.
She kept pounding home that our own FAMILY is our ‘tribe’ that we have the most problems with. Family gave us how we were to think and see and behave in the world. Old patterns and ‘tapes’ of the family mindset isn’t necessarily what we need. Some are outmoded, outdated and certainly do NOT address the individualism of a person within the family unit at all. We all were given “roles” (archetypes) to play in the family. So long as we play that role, we cannot get to our uniqueness as a human being. We need to shed the play of that archetype and go on an inner journey to find out who and what we really are (another archetype). Most family members are afraid to say they won’t play that role–so the root chakra becomes blocked–and the person’s growth becomes blocked as a result of this mindless following of what the family expects/wants of you.
A good example of this is an alcoholic family where each child plays a role to the set of the parents/the alcoholic parent. Until the children of the alcoholic parent stop playing this role–and they carry this role into their adult life–they cannot get to who they really are, beneath this. They are living in the negative archetype of the family and the role they played within it. To continue to play this role/archetype is stifling/suffocative to the individual and eventually, will cause dis-ease or dis-harmony for that person because they are not listening to their own inner voice about what their needs/expression/creativity is about nor will they grab/grasp it and move with it–for fear of being thrown out by the family.
Pink tourmaline comes in a vast breadth of that color. Here is a rough crystal specimen that is translucent an barely a “pink” color; yet very beautiful.
SUMMING UP THE ROOT CHAKRA ENERGY:
Organs: Physical body support; base of spine; legs, bones, feet, rectum, and the immune system. Coccygeal pain (tailbone and lower back). Sciatica. Varicose veins. Hemorrhoids. Rectal tumors (benign or cancerous). Depression. Immune disorders.
Mental/Emotional Issues: Safety and security; ability to provide for life’s necessities; ability to stand up for oneself; feeling at home (here on earth), and emotional support. Our family’s roots. Our family. Our “tribe” or nation that we belong to. Our standing in the world. Nurturing bitterness, anger, revenge, jealousy or envy instead of more positive and healthy feelings . Being rigid and authoritarian about one’s belief system is the only one. Religious wars. Religious obsession, terrorism, extremists, fanatics and zealots of any belief system (religious or not). Obsessive-compulsive behavior. Multiple personality disorder. Destructive patterns such as drugs and/or alcohol in the family dynamic. Our social environment we grew up in–healthy or dysfunctional? Mental illness in the family hereditary genetics, passed on through each succeeding generation (or any other illness, such as cancer, tuberculosis, alcoholism, ect.). Psychological stability of the family. Emotional stability of the family.
Physical Dysfunction’s: Chronic lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors/cancer, depression, and immune disorders (colds to Lupus and any other disease associated with the immune system, such as chronic fatigue syndrome and arthritis).
Spiritual Ramifications: Physical grounding of astral body into the physical shell or body. Connection with Mother Earth (Gaia). Creation. “All for one, one for all.” Accepting family of origin. Accepting personal responsibility and living with honor.
Fears about loss of family (or physical tribe), one’s ability to survive in any aspect (spiritually, mentally, emotionally or physically), abandonment by the group. Being an orphan. Being relegated to not being seen or noticed in the family unit; not important to the family. Loss of physical order in one’s life (latch key children syndrome, a series of day care facilities, moving from one house to another, uprooting through divorce of parents, separation, not enough contact with parents (because they are working). Abandonment is a core issue with the Root chakra. The outsider who never fits in. The rebel. The one who is “different.” Unable to bond with the family for various reasons–parents or siblings. Unable to find your own “tribe” or group of people whom you feel need you, respect you and want you to be a part of their social group.
Strengths are about tribe or family bonding and honor. The ability to be supported and support others. Loyalty to self and others. Family or group connection bestows a sense of protection, safety, nurturing, support and belief in you.
Shadow issue: Inhibition of the person experiencing his or her own unique individuality is not tolerated by the family of origin, your coworkers or nation that you live in. This puts the person on a path of trying to find out who they really are without the veneer and psychological patterns/behavior of the family which is thrust upon them. And an “eye for an eye” mentality. Getting even. You either suffer and suffocate beneath the family’s (work conditions, your nation of origin) maxim, conditional patterns and societal markers or you fight it and try to change their minds, their reality or the way they see or perceive you. All to no avail. You will expend a tremendous amount of your energy, frittering it away to no good avail with your parents and siblings. Because they refuse to grow, change, get out of their dysfunctional dynamic, you choose to remain with them and get dragged down in the mud of their unhealthy reality as well.
Healthy Root Chakra: Mother archetypal energy. This means that with the root chakra functioning properly the person is able to feel as if they are surviving. They have adequate money, a roof over their head, they can pay their bills, feed their children and feel positively about making it in our world. This grounds us so that we can engage all our five senses. It gives us logic, order and structure to deal with our “real” world, the 3rd dimensional world we live within daily. We have been able to successfully explore our family or origin, kept what is meaningful to us, and released the rest because it does not integrate with your unique personality because for you, it is unhealthy. An understanding of parents and siblings in your family dynamic (career or nation you lie in) that they are not necessarily exactly like you or vice-versa. There is a live and let-live attitude you have toward them. They may or may not bestow this same philosophy, attitude or reality toward you, however. That does not matter–what does matter is that you accept them for who and what they are and love them unconditionally and without prejudice and judgment; understanding they struggle an do the best they can. You do recognize that you have freewill choice and can make healthier decisions for yourself, as an individual even while remaining a part of your family or group unit. You are able to individuate yourself from the group and still maintain healthy ties with the group.
Dysfunctional Root Chakra: Victim archetypal energy. You choose to live in an unhealthy family or tribal or national environment that sickens you, eventually. Feeling powerless. Feeling as others control you in any given situation and not having a “voice” to say no, or to draw a healthy boundary up to protect your sense of survival. Learning to survive through being passive-aggressive and manipulation of others–either consciously or unconsciously in order to survive. You have not learned to shed the “coat” of the family dysfunction and it has followed you into your adult life where you constantly replay the same sick patterns that were played upon you when you were a child in that biological family unit. You blindly accept family “truth” and “reality” as the only one. Its not, but you perceive this untruth that it is. There is stagnation of you as a human being, non-creative, non-realitically based, lack of growth, denial of individuation process through your own choices. Blaming others for your condition in life. Refusing to take responsibility for yourself and your choices. Refusing to believe that you can change an unhealthy dynamic in yourself. Choosing to stagnate, rather than take the fearful risk of changing (the unknown).
When the root chakra is not working, the person becomes spacy and ungrounded. They are not logical, practical, organized or connected with all their five senses. When it is working, it sends down deep red roots through out thighs, knees, calves and through our feet deeply into Mother Earth. We are ‘tethered’ to our real Mother, the earth, so to speak. One of the major areas of contention that the Root chakra deals with is our family issues. Do we feel like we belong in that family? How are we treated in it? What are the family issues that we absorb and then carry around on our shoulders like a too heavy load? Is the belief system they taught you, yours? Or not? Have you compromised your own code of honor, your personal integrity? If so, how? And have you done anything to address this and change it to a healthy resonance? What traditions or rituals have been passed down through the family to you? What fears? If you had five words to describe your family, what would they be? Are you you these five words? Do you want to be? What would you change? Unfinished business with parents, siblings or relatives? What is or are they? Have you been working on them within yourself to heal them?
In the above info, there’s focus on a number of areas of our health. Most important, is the heart. Any time we take on a ‘heart wound’ caused by our growing up years, there can be physical ailment with it. If we are working through these wounds, then the heart is protected to a high degree. If the individual has not done any work, then the energy burden is carried by the physical organ, in this case, the heart.
Many people report that by wearing a Pink Tourmaline necklace that they feel an energy pick up. Sometimes these people are hanging out of their body (space cadet syndrome) and the gem anchors them solidly back into their physical form. There’s always more energy if you’re locked into your body energetically rather than hanging out of it, instead. And, people who are exhausted, tired, or are adrenal exhausted can find help above, but also will feel a bump up of energy by wearing Pink Tourmaline.
A person with any heart related illness can wear the necklace because of Pink Tourmaline’s ability to transmute negative/heavy energy. Over time it can actually help the person work through the dis-ease in a positive way.
HOW TO WEAR PINK TOURMALINE
There is no right or wrong time to wearing this Guard Dog and Heart gem. When you feel you’re under stress or going into a stressful or confrontational meeting, then wear your necklace. When you’re not stressed, there’s no need to wear it.
When Pink Tourmaline is faceted, it brings out all its lovely color traits.
Pink Tourmaline is a white knight on a charger for all of us. It is pink and symbolically has androgynous energy. If you pick up this gem, however, you’ll feel both the male and female energy nicely balanced within it. And it can help balance you out as a result. Every time we hit a stressful situation, we go “out of harmony” with our body. Wearing this gem will help reel you back to the center and de-stress you. And in our world, there’s an awful lot of stress. Good thing Mother Earth made huge deposits of this black gemstone so we all could access it and use it like the good friend it is.
If you live in a chaotic home where there’s stress, just putting a nice clump of Pink Tourmaline in each room will act like a ‘stress free zone.’ Just as air filters work to clear a room of dust, the Pink Tourmaline will ‘clear the air’ of heavy, unwanted energy where you are sitting at your desk.
